Our Life As A Believer Should Be Filled With Confidence
Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
How many times as a believer do you find your self doubting your salvation?
God through HIs word makes it possible for all believers not to doubt
Philippians 1:6 “that he” – God
Who begins the good work in you? God
How does God do that?
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Romans 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
What did we believe?
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
Philippians 1:6 Consider three things in Philippians 1:6:
“hath begun a good work in you”
What is that good work? Salvation (Past)
We were justified – We were declared righteous when we believed the gospel
Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 11:6”And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.”
Grace is the absence of works
“will perform it”
Progressive sanctification (Present)
We want to live now based on who we are in Christ
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
How is it being done in us?
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because,. when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
God will work in you by His word if you will: Read, Study, Rightly Divide His word
“until the day of Jesus Christ:”
Glorification – Rapture (Future)
Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Conclusion: We as believers should not have confidence in the flesh. Philippians 3:3”and have no confidence in the flesh.” I encourage all of you to believe the Bible as the word of truth. Spend time daily reading, studying, and rightly dividing the word of truth.
