A Believer Walking In The Light
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Before you were saved
8 – “For ye were sometimes darkness,” – Lost man in darkness
8 – “but now are ye light in the Lord:” – When you were saved
1 Corinthians 15:1 – 4 Is the gospel – You believed the gospel (Salvation)
Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
After you are saved
Ephesians 5:8 “walk as children of light:”
After we believed the gospel and was saved, we became light in the Lord
5:8 “walk as children of light:”
How can we walk as children of light?
Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
The Word of God puts light in our inner man (Soul)
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
1 John 1:5 “God is light,”
Ephesians 5:8 “walk as children of light:”
God does not want us to walk in darkness after we are saved
Darkness – means ignorance of God
1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. – Notice two things in this verse:
“Who will have all men to be saved,”
“and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
If a believer is going to walk as children of light, then we must come to the knowledge of the truth. How can we do that?
By the word of God – John 17:17 “thy word is truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thy self approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
Conclusion: As a believer, we should consider what Paul says in Romans through Philemon. I encourage you to consider what Paul says, read his letters, believe what you read, and learn to rightly divide the word of truth. As believers, I encourage all of you to walk in the light.
